Olaf Scholz

Olav Scholz is a German politician who has been a prominent figure in the German Social Democratic Party (SPD). Born on June 14, 1958,

Scholz held various political offices during his career, including serving as mayor of Hamburg and federal finance minister.

In the 2021 German federal election, Scholz led the Social Democratic Party to victory and officially became German Chancellor on December 8, 2021, succeeding Angela Merkel.

As Chancellor of Germany, Scholz is responsible for leading the German government and formulating the country’s domestic and international policies.

Before becoming German Chancellor, Scholz served as Federal Finance Minister in Angela Merkel’s government from 2018 to 2021, during which time he played a key role in Germany’s economic and fiscal policy.

He also served as Vice-Chancellor from 2018 to 2021. Prior to that, Scholz served as mayor of Hamburg from 2011 to 2018, focusing on urban development, education and infrastructure projects.

During his early political career, Scholz held various positions, including as Federal Minister of Labor and Social Affairs from 2007 to 2009 and as a member of the German Bundestag.

With his extensive political and government experience, Scholz played an important role in shaping Germany’s political landscape and its place on the global stage.
